Doing things we love with people we love is what life is all about. But sorting out who owes who can easily get awkward, even between the best of friends. That’s why we’re introducing Steven - a finance wiz at your fingertips who doesn't mind keeping track of every expense, remembering who paid for what, and asking everyone to pay up when the time is right. Steven has you back on weekend trips, when sharing living expenses or on a night out with friends.
In what way is Steven different from Cost split and Splitwise?
Cost Split and Splitwise are good calculation apps. But that is pretty much all they do. Steven, on the other hand, provides a complete solution that solves all hassles with group payments. Steven keeps track of who paid what, calculates who owes who, offers integrated payment solutions to settle debts, and sends automatic reminders to group members who haven't settled upp.
Can I trust Steven?
Yes, tens of thousands of users already trust us and Steven has a license from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority and is thereby also officially authorised to offer financial services.
What does the app cost?
The Steven app is free to download and free to use. Awesome right?! :)
Can I change currency for the expenses in Steven?
Yes you can register expenses in the app in over 150 different currencies.
How does Steven calculate currency exchange rates?
We use the real spot rates which are updated every 24 h to calculate the exchange rates. Then we add 3% to match most card and ATM fees. We will update how we handle currencies soon where we give you more control over the rates etc.
In what countries does the app work?
Steven works globally. However, the integrated payment functions are only available in Sweden right now.
Does everyone in a group need to have the Steven app?
No this is not necessary. However, we do recommend all group members to register as Steven's integrated payment function is only accessible to Steven users.
How does automatic reminders work?
The function automatically sends out reminders to members of the group who havn't paid up. The function is activated after one week of no activity in a group that still has unsettled expenses.
What happens when I invite someone to a group?
When you invite someone to join a group they will receive a text message with a link to the Steven app in App Store or Google Play. Once the invitee has downloaded the app and registered an account, he or she will be able to access the group you invited them to join.
How do I add an expense?
Log in to the Steven app. Create a group with the people you are sharing an experience with and start adding expenses. Choose if you want to make an even split or manually enter individual portions of the bill. You can also add a photo of the receipt. Once the expense is added, Steven will calculate who owes what and to whom. When it's time to settle the bill, everybody simply logs on to the Steven app and clicks on the "settle up" button.
What does "Already settled outside of the app" mean?
It means that a group member has settled a debt without using the app's integrated payment solutions. An example of a payment outside the app is a cash transfer.
Can I leave a group?
As long as you are not the host of the group you can leave the group. If you are the host you need to make someone host before you leave yourself.
How do I add new members to an existing group?
Click on the group you want to add a new member to, then click on the settings-button in the top right corner and choose "edit group". Add a new member from your contact list or manually enter the new member's phone number.
How do I change my profile picture?
Click on your profile picture in the top right corner. This will take you to your profile overview and once there you need to click on your profile picture again. Click on "add picture" and choose if you want to import a photo from your library or if you want to take a new photo with your phone's camera.
How do I change my name?
Sweden: We get your personal information from SPAR (folkbokföringsregistret). Sometimes the information on which name you use isn't registered with SPAR. You can change this in your profile. However, we do not permit users choosing their own name that is not registered in SPAR. Worldwide: You can change your name in your profile.
Can I have multiple phone numbers with one account?
No, this is not possible. You can only connect a single phone number to your Steven account.
How can I delete my account?
Send us a message in the in-app chat and we will help you.
What does it mean to "Close" a group?
It means that the group is locked to all users and no more expenses can be added. Only the host of the group can re-open the group.
I get no SMS with an activation code?
The text message with the activation code is sent out automatically. If you haven't received the text message please check that the phone number you've inserted is correct and that your phone has cellular service.
My app is not working? What do I do?
Try to restart Steven by closing it, make sure to also close it from the background. If i still does not work try to remove it and re-install it from Google Play or App Store. If it still does not work please reach out to us in the in-app chat.
I can not see a group I have been invited to?
Check your archived groups to see if the group has accidentally ended up there. If you can't find it please reach out in the in-app chat.
When do I get notifications?
You will receive notifications from Steven when you are invited to a new group, when expenses are added, and when you've forgotten to pay up. Once in every blue moon you might even get a pleasant greeting from the Steven team :)
Why do you ask for my social security number?
What happens if the transaction is bigger than my Swish limit?
You can adjust your personal limit with Swish with your bank. Alternatively, you can use one of Stevens other payment solutions. You can also do a manual transaction outside the app and click on the "settle outside app" button.
What does “pending Swish” means?
For Steven to be able to register a complete Swish transaction, the Swish sender must close the Swish pop-up window that is shown when the transaction is complete. If the sender forgets to close the pop-up before leaving the Swish app, the transaction will not be registered automatically in Steven. In you "payments"-tab the payment will show up as "pending" and the receiver has to confirm that he or she has received the payment by checking in their Swish app.
Why do I need to "close down" Swish after each transaction?
Swish is programmed that way. Sadly, it is not something we can change.
How can I get support?
You can chat with the Steven team directly in the app. You can also email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
